The Role
Evershot Farms is a 3,300ha mixed farming business spread from Yeovil to Abbotsbury, Dorset. This job role is based primarily at Evershot, located between Dorchester and Yeovil. Evershot is home to 1200 high yielding Holstein cows, a 750kw Biogas plant, a 2000 dry ewe flock and the associated forage and arable cropping.
Principal responsibilities:
- Working with the Livestock Manager, Arable Manager and AD manager to provide cover and insight into all aspects of the business to aid the efficient running and integration of all departments.
- Staff management within the dairy team.
- Record keeping
- Estate maintenance and farm tidiness
The day to day role would primarily involve:
- Integrating with the farm team to continue to ensure the health, welfare and productivity of the herd.
- Inclusion in the routine work with a mixture of milking, yard work.
- Relief TMR feeding in the week when required. You will be allowed the opportunity to learn key elements of herd management/husbandry, without being fixed into one position.
- Involvement with the weekly vet routine visits.
- Data inputting for Uniform herd management software.
- Routine maintenance and keeping the farm to a high standard.
Person specification/requirements:
- Formal agricultural qualification preferred
- Drive and enthusiasm for livestock production and high welfare standards
- Self-motivated with strong communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and develop
- Good agricultural background which can be developed
- Hold full UK driving licence

This role has become available due to the progression of our current Trainee Farm Manager who, after 18 months, has been promoted to Farm Manager of a 160 cow block calving grazing herd.
The selected candidate will join the Velcourt Management Training Scheme which is a two-year programme in farm management where trainees undertake a combination of practical on-farm instruction, formal classroom-based tuition, and residential courses with a focus on personal development.
This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship. Successful applicants will need to have a pre-existing Right to Work in the UK in order to be offered an employment contract.
